Oluremi Tinubu Faces Criticism, Past Ethnic Threat Controversy, and Launches Girls' ICT Initiative

A traditional leader in Warri publicly told Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to “take care of her husband and children” and warned that she has no place in the presidency, urging her to focus on family rather than regional politics.

In 2019 the First Lady was recorded saying, “we will inherit all you Igbos in Lagos,” a remark that has resurfaced online, sparking debate over the compatibility of her outspoken ethnic rhetoric with her ordination as a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Tinubu has also championed technology education for girls, speaking at a national ICT competition in Abuja. The event attracted more than 3,700 participants, with 111 regional winners and six teams advancing to the final stage, where projects ranged from digital farming tools to assistive technology for people with hearing challenges. She highlighted government support for digital learning, alongside assistance to over 1,000 petty traders and persons with disabilities in the capital.
