Oluremi Tinubu fulfills ₦10m education pledge to young artist
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has fulfilled a ₦10 million education pledge to 12-year-old artist Morenikeji Ebunoluwa Joshua. The funds, provided through the Education Development Trust Fund and presented via the Ogun State Government, are intended to support the young artist’s education through the tertiary level.
Senator Tinubu originally made the pledge on August 18 after encountering Joshua at the launch of the South-West Zonal National Food Bank Programme in Abeokuta. The artist had presented a portrait he painted of the First Lady, which prompted her to invite him to the podium and promise the financial support.
Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun presented the cheque on behalf of the First Lady, stating that the fulfillment of the promise serves as an investment in a talented young Nigerian. Abiodun noted that he had previously intervened in Joshua’s education three years ago after seeing his work during an exhibition.
