Oluremi Tinubu launches National Community Food Bank in Ogun State

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the South-West zonal phase of the National Community Food Bank Programme in Ogun State. The initiative is designed to combat food insecurity and malnutrition, specifically targeting vulnerable populations including children under six, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.

The programme is a collaborative effort involving the First Lady’s office, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and the Bank of Agriculture. During her visit to Ogun State, Senator Tinubu also commissioned several infrastructure projects, including the 108-unit Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Kobape and the 250-bed Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence in Abeokuta.

This regional launch follows previous activations in the North-East (Borno), North-West (Jigawa), and North-Central (Kogi) zones. Senator Tinubu urged South-West governors to partner with the NPHCDA to replicate the food bank model in their respective states to ensure sustained nutritional support for disadvantaged citizens.
