Oluwaseun Ogunsakin advances to second round of US Open Juniors
Nigerian tennis prospect Oluwaseun Ogunsakin has advanced to the second round of the US Open Junior Tennis Championships. After qualifying for the 64-player main draw by defeating Poland’s Tymon Litwic (6-3, 6-0) and top seed Felix Roussel of Canada (6-3, 6-4), the 17-year-old Aurum Tennis Academy player secured his first Grand Slam junior main-draw victory.
Ogunsakin defeated the 15th seed, Kuan-Shou Chen of Chinese Taipei, in a three-set match with a score of 5-7, 6-3, 7-5. This performance follows recent progress on the international junior circuit, including reaching the boys’ doubles semi-finals at Wimbledon. Ogunsakin is scheduled to face South Africa’s Connor Doig in the second round and will also compete in the doubles event alongside Ntungamili Raguin of Botswana.
