Oluwaseun Ogunsakin qualifies for US Open Junior main draw

Fourteen-year-old Nigerian tennis player Oluwaseun Ogunsakin has qualified for the main draw of the 2026 US Open Junior Championships. The Aurum Tennis Academy player secured his spot by defeating Canada’s top seed, Felix Roussel, with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the final qualifying round.

Ogunsakin’s path to the main draw included a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win over Poland’s Tymon Litwic in the previous qualifying round. This achievement marks his third consecutive Grand Slam appearance, following previous appearances at the Roland Garros Junior Championships and Wimbledon Juniors.

During his historic run at Wimbledon earlier this year, Ogunsakin reached the boys’ singles main draw and the semi-finals of the doubles event. The US Open Junior main draw is scheduled to run from September 6 to September 12, 2026.
