Oluwo of Iwo discusses Yoruba traditions and Nigerian power supply

Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, has addressed two distinct topics regarding Nigerian tradition and infrastructure.

Regarding Yoruba cultural heritage, the monarch challenged the perceived significance of ancient royal crowns. He stated that there is no such thing as an ‘ancient crown’ in a permanent sense, explaining that new monarchs create their own crowns rather than inheriting those of their predecessors. He noted that upon a king's death, his successors typically collect the crowns left behind.

On the subject of national infrastructure, the Oluwo commended President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Power Olasunkanmi Tegbe for improvements in the country's electricity supply. Following a month-long trip abroad, the monarch reported experiencing at least 20 hours of daily power without the need for diesel generators. He suggested that stable electricity would boost investment and strengthen the national economy.
