River Plate continues talks with Greek club Olympiacos to secure the transfer of 26‑year‑old Argentine left‑back Francisco Ortega. Reports from Argentina indicate that River Plate is preparing an improved offer worth about €5.2 million, after earlier proposals failed to meet Olympiacos' financial demands.

Ortega, a product of Vélez Sarsfield’s academy, joined Olympiacos in the summer of 2023 on a contract running until 2028. He has appeared in 107 matches for the Greek side, contributing one goal and three assists, and was part of the squad that won the 2023‑24 Conference League. Both clubs are seeking a “golden middle” that satisfies the player's personal terms and the clubs’ valuation.
