Olympiacos BC head coach Giorgos Bartzokas has revealed that Dominican guard Jean Montero rejected massive financial offers, including what he described as ‘blank checks’ from other major basketball clubs, to join the Greek team.

Speaking during the club’s Media Day to the NOVA network, Bartzokas emphasized that the 23-year-old player prioritized a long-term sporting project and professional development over immediate wealth. The coach noted that Montero’s decision to choose the Piraeus-based club over exorbitant salaries demonstrates a maturity and clarity regarding his career goals.

Bartzokas highlighted that for a player of Montero's age, choosing a program focused on basketball evolution can lead to greater glory, titles, and financial success in the long run compared to pursuing short-term high-paying contracts.
