Olympiacos FC and coach Alguacil summoned by DEAB over derby incidents

The Permanent Committee for the Combat of Violence (DEAB) has summoned Olympiacos FC and its coach, Imanol Alguacil, for a hearing on October 20, 2026. The summons follows incidents during the Super League derby against Panathinaikos on October 11, 2026, at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.

Olympiacos faces allegations regarding the incitement of incidents and alleged racist behavior. Specifically, the committee is investigating a choreographic display (koreo) depicting a violent moment from a past match, as well as a banner containing sexist and homophobic content that remained in the stands despite a prosecutor's decision.

Coach Imanol Alguacil has been called to explain his social media activity on Instagram, where he reposted a photograph of the aforementioned choreographic display. Olympiacos has criticized the summons as “unacceptable,” claiming the investigation is a politically motivated prosecution instigated by Panathinaikos FC and its owner, Giannis Alafouzos.
