Olympiacos FC appoints Imanol Alguacil as new manager

Olympiacos FC has completed a rapid transition in its technical leadership, appointing Spanish coach Imanol Alguacil to succeed José Luis Mendilibar. The change follows Mendilibar’s highly successful nearly three-year tenure, during which he led the club to a Conference League title and a domestic treble.

Alguacil, 55, arrives from Al-Shabab and is well-known for his long tenure at Real Sociedad. He has signed a contract for two years with an option for a third, potentially extending his stay until 2029. Club president Vangelis Marinakis officially presented Alguacil to the squad, noting his tactical fit and winning mentality.

Alongside the coaching change, the club has restructured its football department, with Antonio Cordón returning to a centralized role. Alguacil has already begun training with the squad at Rentis, preparing for his debut against OFI in the Super League.
