Olympiacos FC replaces José Luis Mendilibar with Imanol Alguacil
Olympiacos FC has announced the departure of head coach José Luis Mendilibar after approximately two and a half years. During his tenure, Mendilibar led the club to significant success, including winning the UEFA Conference League in 2024—the first major European trophy for a Greek men's club—as well as a domestic treble consisting of the Greek League, Greek Cup, and Super Cup during the club's centenary season.
Imanol Alguacil, the former Real Sociedad manager, has been appointed as Mendilibar's successor. Alguacil, who has a long history with Real Sociedad as both a player and a coach, is expected to begin training with the squad immediately. He is noted for his tactical identity and his ability to lead teams to consistent European competition.
