Olympiacos FC undergoes squad overhaul and tactical shifts

Olympiacos FC is undergoing a significant squad transition following a busy summer transfer window. Under coach Imanol Alguacil, the club has integrated 18 new players, including record signing Gustavo Puerta, who joined for 20 million euros. The total expenditure for the window is estimated at nearly 77 million euros.

Currently, Alguacil is working with 13 available players at the Rentis training center, while 16 players are absent due to injuries or international duty. Notable absences include players on national team duty such as Retzos, Saliakas, and Jaremchuk, as well as injured players like Ayub El Kaabi.

Regarding tactical planning, Alguacil intends to utilize Kostas Fortounis primarily as a winger who has the freedom to move centrally during attacks. While a role as a playmaker behind the striker remains a secondary option, the coach's primary strategy focuses on using Fortounis to facilitate movement and ball circulation from the flanks.
