Olympiacos opens talks to sign Colombian midfielder Gustavo Puerta

Greek club Olympiacos has begun negotiations with Spain's Racing Santander for the transfer of 23‑year‑old Colombian midfielder Gustavo Puerta. The player, who helped Racing achieve promotion to La Liga, is valued at more than €10 million and is under contract with the Spanish side until the summer of 2029, with his market price recently reported around €18 million.

Puerta, a product of Racing’s youth system, previously played for Bayer Leverkusen, on loan at Nürnberg, and had spells at Charlton and other clubs before joining Racing in September 2023. He is a regular for the Colombia national team, featuring in the recent World Cup. While Olympiacos is evaluating the move, other clubs—including Nottingham Forest, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Villarreal and others—are also reported to be interested, making the transfer a competitive pursuit.
