Olympiacos Pursues Portuguese Left-Back Francisco Mouura

Greek champions Olympiacos have renewed interest in 26‑year‑old Portuguese left‑back Francisco Mouura, a player they have been monitoring since last season. Earlier talks stalled when FC Porto demanded a prohibitive fee, but after the departure of Francisco Ortega to River Plate, Porto appears more willing to negotiate a transfer if a suitable financial offer is made. Olympiacos is now reportedly preparing a formal proposal for the defender.

Mouura, a product of Braga’s youth system, progressed through the academies of Braga and Famalicão before establishing himself as one of Portugal’s top left‑backs at Famalicão, where he logged 77 appearances, scored four goals and provided ten assists, earning defender of the month honors in the Liga Portugal. His experience includes a UEFA European U‑19 championship win with Portugal in 2018 and a brief stint with Braga’s senior side before moving abroad.

The club’s scouting department has compiled a comprehensive assessment of Mouura’s defensive and attacking attributes, and the timing coincides with Olympiacos’ ongoing search for a replacement for their departing left‑back options, including Salas and Tiquinha.
