Olympiacos stadium upgrade discussed by Mitsotakis and Marinakis

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Olympiacos FC President Evangelos Marinakis at the Maximos Mansion to discuss the modernization and upgrade of the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. The proposal involves a significant private investment estimated to exceed 250 million euros.

The project aims to transform the stadium into a modern facility with a capacity of over 53,000 spectators. To facilitate this, the Greek government has committed to initiating the necessary legislative measures to support the private investment and streamline the construction process.

During the meeting, which included Piraeus Mayor Giannis Moralis and several government officials, the timeline for the project was discussed. Marinakis noted that studies and preparations have been underway for over a year, with the goal of starting construction as early as May 2026. During the construction period, Olympiacos is expected to play its matches at the Olympic Stadium (OAKA).
