Olympiacos to host NEC Nijmegen in Champions League qualifying tie
Greek champions Olympiacos will meet Dutch side NEC Nijmegen in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. The first leg is scheduled for Tuesday, 4 August, at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, kicking off at 21:00 local time. The return match will take place a week later on 11 August, with a start time of 20:30 in Greece (19:30 in the Netherlands).
NEC forward Kai Sircous, speaking after the Dutch club’s recent 1‑0 friendly loss to Werder Bremen, described Olympiacos as the favorite for the tie, noting their greater European experience and quality squad. He added that NEC are preparing and will aim to show their best when they face the Greek side.
If Olympiacos advance, they will move on to the playoff stage, with the possibility of a Europa League group‑stage slot should they be eliminated.
