Olympic Broadcasting Services to receive IBC International Honour for Excellence

The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) has announced that Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) will be awarded the International Honour for Excellence at IBC2026. The award recognizes OBS for its decades of innovation and impact on global broadcasting, specifically through its development of ultra-high-definition production, immersive audio, artificial intelligence, and next-generation storytelling for the Olympic Games.

Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of OBS, stated that the distinction is a tribute to the team’s dedication to enhancing the audience experience of the Olympic Movement. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the RAI Amsterdam during the IBC2026 event.

Additionally, i2 media research has been named the winner of the Best Technical Paper for 2026. Their research focuses on reducing interaction barriers in internet-delivered TV systems for older viewers through age-informed human factors design.
