Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina discusses sports challenges with Lidija Bradara

Lidija Bradara, President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, met with Davor Komšić, President of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to discuss the current state of sports in the country.

Komšić identified several critical challenges facing the Olympic Committee, including inadequate legal frameworks, unstable financing, and a lack of sports infrastructure. He emphasized the need for stronger engagement from relevant institutions to support elite athletes and increase the number of Bosnian athletes participating in the Olympic Games. A primary long-term goal is for Bosnia and Herzegovina to win its first Olympic medal as an independent state.

Bradara highlighted that the value of sports extends beyond medals, noting its role in fostering healthy habits, discipline, and social cohesion among youth. She pointed out that local sports clubs serve as vital community hubs that combat digital addiction and build social unity. The meeting concluded with a call for improved infrastructure and more stable funding models to ensure that athletic success does not rely solely on individual talent and sacrifice.
