Asian Games 2026: China dominates table tennis as logistics issues arise

The 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, have seen significant competitive results and organizational challenges. In table tennis, China's Man Kuai and Manyu Wang secured gold in the women's doubles, defeating Japan's Miwa Harimoto and Hina Hayata with a 4-0 scoreline. The match included a dominant first game where Japan failed to score a single point.

Regarding the competition program, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has officially denied reports that esports would be removed from the Asian Games. While a new standalone Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games is scheduled to launch in Kuwait in 2027, the OCA clarified that esports will maintain its status as a full medal sport within the Asian Games.

Logistical issues have also surfaced, with several teams experiencing transport errors. The South Korean men's volleyball team was taken to the wrong venue, resulting in a cancelled training session, while the Pakistan men's volleyball team was also bussed to an incorrect arena. Organizers attributed these incidents to errors in matching teams to vehicles.
