Olympic stories: Eddie the Eagle film and Norwegian skier's celebration

The film ‘Eddie the Eagle’ depicts the story of British ski jumper Michael Edwards, who overcame financial and physical challenges to compete in the Calgary Olympics. While the film captures the spirit of his journey, it includes fictional elements, such as the character of trainer Bronson Peary, played by Hugh Jackman. Edwards noted that the film dramatizes certain aspects of his life, including his relationship with his father and his training process, though he remained satisfied with the portrayal.

In a separate Olympic anecdote revealed in a new book about the Norwegian national team, cross-country skier Iversen experienced a sudden opportunity following Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo's withdrawal from the 50km race. After celebrating his previous performances, Iversen was found by coaches in a state of heavy intoxication. Despite the late notice and a significant hangover, he accepted the replacement spot and ultimately finished tenth in the event.
