Olympique de Marseille analysts debate season potential after consecutive wins
Following two consecutive Ligue 1 victories against Troyes and Angers, analysts are divided on the potential of Olympique de Marseille for the current season.
Christophe Dugarry expressed skepticism regarding the club's ability to finish in the top five, noting that while there was a visible improvement in composure and game control during the 5-2 win against Angers, the squad still lacks the necessary depth and individual quality to compete with the league's elite. He cautioned that the team continues to concede too many opportunities.
Conversely, former defender Eric Di Meco offered a more optimistic view. He suggested that the recent results could alleviate the mental tension currently affecting the squad. Di Meco highlighted coach Bruno Genesio's tactical decisions, specifically regarding Himad Abdelli and the integration of younger players, as reasons for renewed hope. Marseille currently sits in ninth place with nine points after seven matches.
