Olympique de Marseille faces potential DNCG sanctions and points deduction

Olympique de Marseille (OM) faces potential disciplinary action from the DNCG, the French football financial regulator. Due to failure to meet previous commitments regarding wage bill management, the club risks financial sanctions and a possible points deduction for the upcoming season if the situation does not improve by June 30.

As a result of these financial constraints, OM is expected to have a highly restricted winter transfer window. Reports suggest the club may be permitted to sell players to reduce costs but will likely be prohibited from making new signings. The club has stated it is working rigorously to present a recovery plan to the regulator to avoid further sanctions from both the DNCG and UEFA.

On the pitch, former player Mathieu Valbuena has commented on the team's difficult start to the season. While noting the limited squad depth, he praised manager Bruno Genesio's leadership and positive impact on the players. Valbuena also expressed his support for the team ahead of their Europa League match against Olympiakos.
