Olympique de Marseille owner Frank McCourt has decided to halt new player recruitment during the upcoming winter transfer window. Despite disappointing sporting results, McCourt intends to maintain a strict austerity policy to address the club's financial situation.

Following the departure of former president Pablo Longoria, McCourt reportedly discovered that the club's accounts were in significant deficit due to previous management practices. In response, McCourt has instructed new official Stéphane Richard to prioritize cost-cutting measures and has refused to inject further personal funds into the squad for transfers this season.

While the club will not be making major signings, Richard has indicated that investment will continue in other areas, specifically a 70 million euro project for a new training center. Manager Bruno Genesio will be expected to manage the team using the existing squad.
