Olympique de Marseille receives €120 million owner injection as director secures €81 million in sales

American owner Frank McCourt injected €120 million into Olympique de Marseille in 2026 to cover operating losses and support the club’s austerity plan. The funding is intended to stabilise the balance sheet rather than finance new transfers.

New sporting director Grégory Lorenzi has helped the club recover roughly €81 million through player sales and salary reductions. Departures include Mohamed Traoré, Alassane Greenwood, Riyad Mahrez, and others, generating significant cash flow and easing the financial pressure on the club.

Together, the owner’s capital injection and Lorenzi’s revenue‑raising measures aim to keep Marseille compliant with DNCG regulations and avoid further reliance on large cash infusions.
