Olympique de Marseille relies on youth amid lack of summer signings

Olympique de Marseille (OM) is facing significant challenges following a summer transfer window in which owner Frank McCourt opted for a radical financial strategy, resulting in zero new signings. This lack of recruitment has left the squad thin and has raised concerns regarding the club's ability to avoid a relegation battle.

To compensate for the reduced squad depth, manager Bruno Genesio has begun integrating youth players from the club's training center. Keyliane Abdallah has seen increased playing time, recording over 100 minutes and scoring a goal in the opening four matches of Ligue 1. Similarly, 18-year-old Tadjidine Mmadi has begun making appearances in recent matches.

While the emergence of young talent provides a temporary solution, analysts suggest that if results do not improve, McCourt may be forced into a reversal of his current policy by providing funds for reinforcements during the winter transfer window.
