Olympique de Marseille aims to trim wage bill with Hojbjerg sale and Bissouma signing

Olympique de Marseille is confronting a tight financial situation ahead of the DNCG deadline and is looking to reduce its payroll. Danish midfielder Pierre‑Emile Hojbjerg, who earned a substantial salary, is being positioned for a move abroad. Serie A clubs such as Juventus and Atalanta have been linked to him, while Turkish side Beşiktaş reportedly offered around €10 million—well below the player’s €15 million market value—plus a salary of roughly €6 million per year.

At the same time, the club is targeting free‑agent midfielder Yves Bissouma, recently released by Tottenham Hotspur. As a free signing, Bissouma would add Premier League experience without a transfer fee, but Marseille must compete with other European and Saudi Arabian teams for his signature. Securing Bissouma is seen as a way to strengthen the midfield while helping to meet the wage‑reduction targets required by the DNCG and UEFA.
