Olympique de Marseille targets Simon Ngapandouetnbu for goalkeeper role

Olympique de Marseille (OM) is reportedly considering Simon Ngapandouetnbu as a potential long-term solution for their starting goalkeeper position. Following the transfer of Gerónimo Rulli to Manchester City, the club has relied on Jeffrey De Lange, whose performance has met with mixed reactions from supporters.

Ngapandouetnbu, a 23-year-old Cameroonian international, currently plays for Montpellier HSC, where he has demonstrated significant progress, including four clean sheets in six league matches. Because OM retained 50% of his rights during his transfer to Montpellier in 2025, the club holds a priority option to reacquire him at a reduced cost. His estimated market value is approximately 2.5 million euros, meaning OM could potentially secure him for half that amount.

While De Lange is expected to remain the primary goalkeeper for the remainder of the current season under manager Bruno Genesio, the club's financial constraints and the need for a reliable number one make the return of the former academy player an attractive strategic move.
