Olympique de Marseille's Bruno Genesio appointment stalled by DNCG salary cap and Habib Beye dispute

Olympique de Marseille has not yet formalised the hiring of Bruno Genesio as head coach. The French football financial watchdog DNCG has imposed a strict salary‑cap on the club, requiring the sale of certain players before any new contracts can be registered.

Negotiations with former manager Habib Beye over his contractual settlement are described as “very hard”, with the former coach demanding full payment for the remaining year of his contract. This dispute is delaying Genesio’s official appointment and is also holding up summer transfer activity, including a pending deal involving Mason Greenwood.

Reports of former Marseille player Samir Nasri returning to the technical staff have been denied by the ex‑international, who called the claims “ridiculous”. The club remains in a financially constrained position while rivals exploit its weakened bargaining power.
