Olympique Lyon defeats Rennes 4-0 led by Ernest Nuamah

Olympique Lyon secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Rennes in their fifth Ligue 1 match of the 2026/27 season, moving them into second place in the league standings with 11 points.

Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah was the standout performer, scoring twice in the 7th and 30th minutes. Nuamah, who has been recovering from a significant knee injury that sidelined him for much of the previous season, was named man of the match. Other goals for Lyon were provided by Zachary Athekame in the 48th minute and captain Corentin Tolisso in the 76th minute.

The match saw a temporary interruption due to offensive banners displayed by supporters, but Lyon maintained their momentum following the restart. The win keeps Lyon unbeaten this season, while Rennes fell to fifth place in the standings.
