Olympique Lyonnais faces revenue drop and DNCG scrutiny

Olympique Lyonnais reported a decline in total activity revenue for the 2025‑2026 fiscal year, falling to €223.3 million, an 18 % drop from the previous year. The decrease stemmed mainly from a 28 % reduction in domestic TV rights after the early termination of the DAZN/LFP contract, a 58 % fall in event‑related income and a 29 % decline in player‑trading revenue. Ticketing showed modest growth of 5 % and merchandise sales reached a historic high, partially offsetting the losses.

The club’s financial regulator, the DNCG, temporarily relaxed its oversight of the salary imbalance after Olympique Lyonnais secured a €30 million‑plus transfer fee for Afonso Moreira’s move to Bayer Leverkusen. This influx helped fund several new signings, though high‑salary deals such as Loïs Openda’s remain under close watch. The DNCG will review the club’s commitments again in September to ensure compliance with financial rules.
