Olympique Lyonnais Prepares for Champions League Qualifiers and U17 League Draw

Olympique Lyonnais' senior team learned its possible opponents for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after the draw on July 20. The French club could face Sparta Prague (Czech Republic), Union Saint‑Gilloise (Belgium), NEC Nijmegen (Netherlands) or the winner of the Sturm Graz (Austria) versus Heart of Midlothian (Scotland) tie. If Lyon advances, a play‑off against either Olympiakos (Greece) or Fenerbahçe (Turkey) may follow, with the first‑leg scheduled for August 18‑19 and the return leg for August 25‑26.

Separately, Lyon’s U17 academy squad received its Group C schedule for the upcoming season. The youth team will meet French sides Auxerre, Sochaux, Annecy, Troyes, Dijon, Torcy, Strasbourg and FC Lyon, while other clubs such as Grenoble, Chambéry, Nancy, AS Strasbourg and FC Chalonnais also feature in the group. The squad aims to build momentum before the league opens on 23 August.
