Olympique Lyonnais rebrands parent company to sever ties with John Textor
Olympique Lyonnais has announced that its parent company will change its name from Eagle Football Group to Olympique Lyonnais Groupe. This decision, made by the board of directors, marks an institutional break from the multi-club ownership model established by American businessman John Textor.
The name change will be submitted for shareholder approval at a general assembly scheduled for October 16. Until the change is formalized, the company will use the commercial brand OL Groupe. This move is part of a broader administrative restructuring following Textor's departure in June, with Michele Kang assuming the presidency to lead financial and management reorganization.
The Eagle Football brand was the core of Textor's multi-club project, which included interests in Botafogo (Brazil), Crystal Palace (England), and RWD Molenbeek (Belgium). As the club works to stabilize its finances under the supervision of France's DNCG, the rebranding serves to reinforce its institutional independence from the previous management structure.
