Olympique Lyonnais sells Mathys De Carvalho to Al-Diriyah
Olympique Lyonnais has completed its final transfer of the summer with the departure of Mathys De Carvalho to Al-Diriyah in Saudi Arabia. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder, a product of the club's youth academy, was sold for approximately €1.1 million, with the club also securing a 10% sell-on clause for any future transfer profit.
This transaction brings Lyon's total summer sales to roughly €64.1 million. Other notable departures this window include Afonso Moreira to Leverkusen for €29.5 million, Malick Fofana to Sunderland for €30 million, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles to Everton for €3.5 million.
While the sales provide some financial relief and help manage the wage bill, sporting director Matthieu Louis-Jean noted that the total revenue remains below the club's initial objectives. The club continues to work on its financial situation to meet requirements for the upcoming seasons.
