Olympique Lyonnais signs Austrian defender Felix Bacher on five‑year deal

Olympique Lyonnais announced the signing of 25‑year‑old Austrian centre‑back Felix Bacher from Portuguese club GD Estoril Praia. The transfer fee is reported at €4.3 million, with possible bonuses of up to €0.8 million and a 12.5 % sell‑on clause. Bacher has signed a five‑year contract that runs until 30 June 2031.

Bacher, 1.90 m tall, made 58 appearances and scored four goals for Estoril, playing every minute of the last Primeira Liga season. He previously played in Austria for FC Wacker Innsbruck, WSG Tirol and had a stint with Fribourg. Lyon described him as a modern, powerful and athletic defender capable of playing on either side of a back four. The signing is Lyon’s sixth summer acquisition and is intended to strengthen the defence ahead of the Champions League third‑qualifying round against Sparta Prague.

In his first statement to the club, Bacher said, “It’s a great moment for me and my family. I am very grateful to sign for Olympique Lyonnais and hope we will all experience great moments this season. I am ambitious and like to be a leader for the team.”
