Olympique Marseille to appoint Bruno Genesio as new coach
Olympique de Marseille (OM) is preparing to hire former Ligue 1 coach Bruno Genesio as its next manager. Club president Stéphane Richard, who assumes office on 2 July, has held positive talks with Genesio, who is currently free after his contract with LOSC ended. The club also confirmed Gregory Lorenzi as sporting director, tasked with overseeing player sales and recruitment.
The appointment has sparked media debate. On RMC’s After Foot program, commentator Daniel Riolo questioned Richard’s football knowledge and alleged that Richard and his family are supporters of rival club PSG, saying, “Stéphane Richard knows nothing about football. Moreover, his family are Paris fans!” The discussion highlights the broader scrutiny of OM’s new leadership as the club seeks to stabilise its project and return to the Champions League.
