India to host 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi

The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum is scheduled to take place on October 26 and 27 at the Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi. Presided over by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the conference will feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a special guest. The event aims to bring together presiding officers and parliamentary leaders from 11 BRICS member nations and 10 partner countries.

The forum’s theme is “Strengthening parliaments that place people, society, and their real needs at the centre of development.” Discussions will be held across four high-level sessions focusing on parliamentary resilience, human-centric innovation in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, more representative global governance, and sustainable, inclusive development.

While the Iranian Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, the Iranian Embassy in India confirmed that a parliamentary delegation from Tehran will still participate to maintain commitment to BRICS cooperation.
