OM System releases new PEN camera and evaluates future lineup

OM System has released the new OM System PEN, a compact rangefinder-style camera based on the Micro Four Thirds system. The device features a 20-megapixel sensor, in-body image stabilization (IBIS), and weather-sealing. While it offers a stylish and affordable option for photographers, it lacks certain high-end video specifications such as 10-bit video and 4K 60p.

Regarding future product expansions, Nishihara of OM Digital Solutions stated in an interview that the company is not currently planning to expand the PEN series into different equipment classes. Instead, the company intends to monitor market feedback and sales performance of the current PEN model before making further decisions. While there is consumer demand for a high-end successor to the PEN-F, the company will evaluate these requests alongside the reception of the new entry-level model.
