Łomża mother charged after four-year-old falls from fifth-floor balcony

A 27-year-old mother in Łomża has been formally charged with exposing her four-year-old daughter to direct danger of death or serious bodily harm. The charges follow an incident on August 9, when the child fell from a fifth-floor balcony.

The child survived the fall after neighbors and witnesses reacted by stretching a blanket to cushion the impact. Following the incident, the girl was hospitalized but has since been discharged. A breathalyzer test conducted on the mother revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.7 per mille; she was reportedly sleeping in the apartment at the time of the fall.

The suspect has refused to plead guilty and has declined to provide further explanations to investigators. As a result, police supervision has been imposed. By decision of the family court, the child has been placed in foster care.
