Łomża water utility acquires crisis management equipment
The Municipal Water and Sewage Company (MPWiK) in Łomża has acquired new equipment to enhance water security and crisis response capabilities. Funded through the government's Population Protection and Civil Defense Program, the investment totals nearly one million PLN, including the company's own contribution.
The new equipment includes three mobile chlorinators designed to disinfect the water network in the event of contamination. Additionally, the utility has acquired a water packaging machine capable of filling up to 1,500 liters of water into food-grade plastic pouches per hour for distribution during emergencies. To facilitate transport, a water tanker equipped with a germicidal lamp was also purchased.
Furthermore, UV lamps have been installed at water intakes to provide highly effective automated disinfection. MPWiK President Maciej Borysewicz stated that these measures aim to meet all safety requirements for critical infrastructure, ensuring residents maintain access to safe drinking water during crisis situations.
