Omaha area reports gas shortages and supply squeeze

Gas stations in the Omaha, Nebraska area, including locations in Papillion, La Vista, and Bellevue, have reported fuel outages and low supplies. Drivers have noted empty pumps at several establishments, such as Casey’s and Sam’s Club.

The Nebraska Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association stated that while fuel supplies typically tighten in the fall due to refinery maintenance and the transition from summer to winter fuel, this year’s squeeze is “worse than usual.” Increased diesel demand during harvest season also impacts gasoline availability by utilizing the same pipelines.

Industry analysis from GasBuddy suggests that while one unnamed supplier in the Omaha area is experiencing issues with gasoline and diesel, the problems are not widespread. Local stations expect the shortages to be temporary. Meanwhile, fuel prices remain elevated; regular unleaded gas in Omaha averaged approximately $4.25 per gallon, a significant increase from $2.65 a year ago.
