North Dakota State and Wyoming to compete for new Battle of the Basins trophy

North Dakota State University and the University of Wyoming have announced the creation of a new annual traveling trophy, dubbed the ‘Battle of the Basins’. Sponsored by the North Dakota Petroleum Council, the trophy features a wood base with both teams' logos and a 10-inch replica drill bit to represent the petroleum industry history in both states.

The trophy will be awarded to the winner of the annual regular-season matchup between the two Mountain West Conference teams. The first installment of this rivalry is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.

In terms of betting outlook, North Dakota State enters the matchup as a significant favorite. Current odds list the Bison with a moneyline of -1250 and a spread of -19.5, while Wyoming is positioned as an underdog with a +701 moneyline and a +19.5 spread.
