Oman and Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition discuss maritime security

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), led by Saudi Arabia, met with officials from Oman to discuss enhancing cooperation in counter-terrorism and maritime security. During a high-level meeting, the Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces, Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Raisi, received the Secretary-General of the IMCTC, Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Mughidi.

The discussions focused on developing partnerships through capacity building, expertise exchange, and addressing regional threats to stability. The Secretary-General outlined the coalition's initiatives across four key pillars: intellectual, media, military, and combating the financing of terrorism. Additionally, the role of the coalition's initiative funding fund was discussed to support strategic programs for member states.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the Omani Maritime Security Center. The group received a briefing on the center's operational duties, including monitoring maritime situations, ensuring the safety of navigation, and responding to potential threats and cross-border crimes in maritime environments.
