Oman expands economic partnerships through state visits to Angola and Botswana

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman is conducting state visits to Angola and Botswana to strengthen economic ties and expand bilateral trade.

In Angola, the Sultan met with President João Lourenço to discuss deepening economic partnerships through agreements and investments valued at over $1.5 billion. Key sectors identified for potential cooperation include oil, mining, food security, maritime transport, and air transport. The two nations are also establishing a technical cooperation programme to support economic diversification.

In Botswana, the Sultan accompanied President Duma Gideon Boko on a visit that included a tour of the Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB). The engagement focused on the mining and energy sectors, with discussions centered on Botswana’s diamond industry. The visit aimed to explore how Omani investment and expertise could support the development of the diamond value chain, including sorting and valuation operations.
