Oman industrial sector sees rapid growth and qualitative investment

Oman's industrial sector is undergoing a qualitative transformation, shifting from quantitative expansion to a base integrated with modern technologies, local supply chains, and increased value addition. This transition is part of the nation's Industrial Strategy 2040.

According to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the contribution of manufacturing to Oman's GDP reached 869 million Omani Rials in the first quarter of 2026. The Industrial Strategy 2040 aims to increase this contribution to 5.44 billion Omani Rials by 2030 and 10.702 billion Omani Rials by 2040. By the end of 2025, manufacturing's contribution to the total GDP was approximately 3.7 billion Omani Rials.

Non-oil commodity exports grew by 1.5 percent as of May 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 2.739 billion Omani Rials. The government targets exceeding 10 billion Omani Rials in such exports by 2030, focusing on metals, chemicals, energy-related industries, and food products. Additionally, re-exports rose by 64.4 percent to over 1 billion Omani Rials by late May 2026.

Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, stated that these indicators reflect the success of national policies in building a more integrated industrial ecosystem. He noted that rising foreign direct investment in the sector confirms Oman's attractiveness as an investment destination due to its strategic location and advanced infrastructure.
