At the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi called for political restraint and dialogue to resolve the Middle East conflict. He noted that the current regional war, triggered by US and Israeli strikes on Iran, has threatened regional security and disrupted maritime trade through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Al-Busaidi reaffirmed Oman's commitment to protecting maritime navigation in the Strait in accordance with international law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). He urged Iran and the United States to resolve their disputes through a lasting political understanding. This follows reports that US President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to implement a ceasefire and reopen the Strait within seven days.

Regarding Yemen, the Foreign Minister reiterated Oman's support for a political solution that preserves the country's unity, stability, and territorial integrity. He expressed solidarity with neighboring nations in protecting their sovereignty and urged all parties to seek consensual political solutions to ensure long-term regional stability.
