Oman promotes sustainable tourism through luxury developments and heritage sites

The Sultanate of Oman is positioning itself as a destination for high-quality, authentic, and sustainable tourism. The country’s strategy focuses on preserving cultural identity while expanding infrastructure across diverse landscapes, from the desert dunes to the mountains.

In the capital, Muscat, new developments include the Al Bustan complex, which involves a 150 million Omani rial investment to create a hotel, luxury residences, a marina, and a yacht club. Upcoming projects also feature the Oman Botanic Garden, set to be the largest in the Arabian Peninsula, and the Muttrah Teleferik cable car, expected by late 2026.

In the Dhofar region, Salalah continues to attract travelers with its coastal resorts and proximity to the UNESCO-listed Land of Frankincense. Notable accommodations include the Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara, which offers heritage-focused stays, and the Salalah Rotana Resort located in the Hawana Salalah development.
