Oman qualifies for FIFAe World Cup after Rocket League success
Oman’s national Rocket League team has qualified for the FIFAe World Cup 2026 following a successful campaign at the FIFAe Continental Championship Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
After progressing through the group stages and defeating India 4-0 in the quarterfinals, the Omani squad—comprising Sultan Al Balushi, Noah Al Mahmoudi, and Abdullah Al Amri—lost 4-0 to Australia in the semifinals. They recovered in the third-place match to defeat host nation Malaysia 4-0, securing the Asian bronze medal.
This podium finish earned Oman a spot in an intercontinental playoff against New Zealand. Oman secured their World Cup berth with a 4-2 victory in the playoff. This marks the second consecutive appearance for the Sultanate at the FIFAe World Cup. Saba bint Saeed Al Busaidi, Head of the Omani Committee for Games and Electronic Sports, noted that the achievement reflects the rapid development of the esports sector in Oman.
