Oman to host 25th GCC History and Archaeology Society forum

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism will host the 25th Scientific Forum of the GCC History and Archaeology Society in the Dhofar Governorate from August 24 to 26. This milestone event marks the society’s silver jubilee and features participation from over 180 members and specialists from within Oman and abroad.

The three-day forum will include the presentation of 30 research papers covering the history, archaeology, heritage, and culture of the Arabian Gulf countries across various historical eras. Discussions will be based on archaeological surveys, field studies, and analyses of cultural, economic, and social dimensions of the region.

Accompanying the sessions is an exhibition showcasing archaeological finds discovered in Oman, scientific publications from the Ministry and the Society, and a historical timeline of the Sultanate. The program concludes with visits to prominent archaeological and tourist sites in Dhofar, coinciding with the Dhofar Khareef season.
