Oman tops Asia and ranks third worldwide in Numbeo 2026 Quality of Life Index

Oman achieved a Quality of Life Index score of 203.9 in Numbeo’s 2026 Mid‑Year assessment, placing it jointly with Denmark in third position globally. Only the Netherlands (205.6) and Luxembourg (204.8) were ranked higher. Within Asia, Oman led the list, followed by Qatar and Japan. The index evaluates factors such as purchasing power, safety, health‑care, cost of living, property price‑to‑income ratio, traffic commute time, pollution levels and climate. Oman’s strong showing was driven by high public safety, low pollution, quality health‑care services, a favourable climate and relatively short commuting times.

Muscat, the Omani capital, was ranked first in Asia for overall quality of life with a score of 180.3 and second globally for low pollution, underscoring the country’s urban living standards.
