Oman's Asyad Container Terminal receives world’s largest container ship, CMA CGM Vasco de Gama

The Asyad Container Terminal (ACT) in Duqm, Oman, welcomed the CMA CGM Vasco de Gama, a vessel with a capacity of about 18,000 TEU, marking the terminal’s first call by a ship of this size. The arrival demonstrates ACT’s modern infrastructure, deep‑water berths and the Navis N4 terminal operating system that enable safe, efficient handling of the latest generation of ultra‑large container vessels.

Omar bin Mahmoud Al Mahrizi, CEO of Asyad Ports & Freezones, said the ship’s visit reflects growing confidence from major shipping lines in Oman's logistics sector and supports the country's vision to develop Duqm as a strategic gateway linking regional and global markets. The terminal aims to boost cargo volumes, industrial investment and supply‑chain resilience across the Asia‑Middle East‑Europe corridor.
